The goal of the Pembroke Pines Police Department Crime Suppression Team is to improve the quality of life in the community by addressing criminal activity or crime trends in particular areas as they arise. The Crime Suppression Team is able to accomplish this through various strategies of gang interdiction, criminal apprehension via warrant sweeps, and intelligence lead policing which include investigative techniques, proactive patrol, intelligence gathering, and arrests.
The unit was formed in 2006 for the purpose of removing the threat of gangs, guns, and drugs from the streets of Pembroke Pines. The unit is staffed by one sergeant and four road patrol officers whom are selected for their proactive policing style and knowledge of the local criminal element. The unit operates under the command of the Operations Division.
Since the units inception, the unit has been successful in reducing violent crime and removing the threat that gangs pose to the community through targeting various crime locations and criminals. The unit works closely with all divisions of the Pembroke Pines Police Department, as well as in concert with other local, state, and federal agencies.
If you have any questions or wish to provide any information about possible gang involvement, activity, graffiti, or other criminal activity you can contact any Crime Suppression Team member at 954-431-2200.
