Hurricane Preparedness

With the threat of hurricanes each year, our community affairs officers will set up group meetings to provide the public with information on how to better prepare for any storms or natural disasters that may come our way. We have handouts available all year long and can direct the public to shelters when needed. Contact the Community Affairs Unit, at 954-436-3274 for more information.

Develop a Plan

In Florida, hurricanes are a natural phenomenon. The season begins June 1, ends November 30, and all residents and visitors need to be prepared for the effects of a hurricane or severe weather. The time to prepare is now. Each household, visitor, and business must develop a plan of action for hurricanes and severe weather.

This guide will lead you through the steps needed to develop a plan of action. The guide will explain how to protect yourself, your family, and your home, prepare your automobile, and keep your pets safe. It will explain what to expect after the storm.
The City of Pembroke Pines Emergency Management Team has developed a plan of action that deals with before, during, and after the storm. Should our City encounter a direct impact from a hurricane, our goal is to quickly stabilize the situation and provide immediate assistance to our citizens.
